The red deer stag is absolutely the strongest game in Bulgaria . 10 of the 15 biggest stags in Europe incl. the world record of 273,60 CIC point are brought down in BULGARIA .

Hunting during the rut of the famous Bulgarian red deer stag starts normally mid September and continues to the beginning of October depending on the district. The hunting method is almost always a combination between stalking and from a high seat.

Bulgaria is well known for the big and strong trophies. The quite restrictive hunting policy, the natural environment for the red deer and plenty and various natural food are the reasons for the beautiful trophies. In general the antlers are dark and with white tips . Do not forget that many of the best trophies are taken home during December and January.

The “smallest” stags you can go hunting for are 5 Kg. Trophy hunt for a stag between 8 Kg and up to 13 Kg is preferable, as the strength of the Bulgarian red deer stag is in this weight class and the price for a stag of that size is reasonable. Every year stags up to 15-17 Kg are bagged, but you don’t find many of them – and they are attractive among hunters from all over the world. The really big one you find in the districts between the Balkan Range and the Danube River and in the districts near the Black Sea coast. If you go for a stag between 7 to 9 Kg we recommend the districts in the Balkan Range and in the southern part of Bulgaria .
