Wolf
(Canis Lupus L.)
Bulgaria has a big population of wolves. During the last years the wolf has spread in such a number that it has to be looked as a threat.
It lives in the big forests – often in the difficult accessible mountain regions.
Because of its population it is not unusual that it seeks for food near the villages and in the mountains you hear many examples for wolves having taken sheep and goats for a good meal.
The Bulgarian wolf is looking like the European wolf and the typical weight is between 40 to 80 kg. The winter coat is long and thick and the winter color is grey-brown. The trophy is attractive also because it is a difficult hunt asking for good condition and a good shot.
